Hurricane Sandy Moves Closer to Land

About 50 million people, from Virginia to Massachusetts, are expected to feel the effects of Sandy.

At 8 a.m., Sandy, a Category 1 hurricane, was 265 miles southeast of Atlantic City, New Jersey, and about 310 miles south-southeast of New York City.  Maximum sustained winds were at 85 mph, and Sandy was moving north-northwest at about 20 mph.

Hurricane-force winds extended outward 175 miles from the center, and tropical storm-force winds reached 485 miles.

Forecasters said the hurricane could blow ashore Monday night or early Tuesday along the New Jersey coast, then cut across into Pennsylvania and travel up through New York State on Wednesday.

A Blast from the Past: Adding a Medieval Twist to Your Home

Bring home a little allure with this three tiered, 17-bulb chandelier by Quoizel. The La Parra chandelier serves both as a beautiful fixture and as an era-piece that is renaissance inspired which will undoubtedly be a conversational piece for years to come.

With a dark imperial bronze finish, the iron body of this vintage-like fixture adds a mysterious lure to any room. What really gives it an era-piece feel are the bulbs which are enclosed in what looks to be faux pillar candles and the chain links throughout the fixture.
