When most people are still sleeping in after a party-filled evening, Rick Seidman, President of Quoizel, and thousands of others continue to ring in the New Year with a frigid plunge in the ocean on Sullivan’s Island.
The Polar Bear Plunge event is in its 19th year and raises funds for the Special Olympics South Carolina. It’s a cool reason for people with warm hearts to support these special athletes. This year organizers are hopeful they took in more than $50,000 this year, topping last year’s $47,000.
Every Thanksgiving, Rick, family and friends vote on a theme. This year, Rick and company traded their masks and capes from last year’s Zorro-theme to dressing as construction cones and duplicate the construction zone on Highway 17 where traveling had been challenging. It was their largest group to date. Watch out sea creatures for construction is ahead!
