It’s Throwback Thursday!

This is our first blog on Throwback Thursday where we will share photos of “old” Quoizel products, catalogs from years past and nostalgic photos of  our loyal employees.

What better place to start than with the Abigail Adams Collection.  Quoizel got its start in 1930, and the hurricane lamp is what put Quoizel on the map!

This Abigail Adams piece features a hand-blown opal glass shade with a lighted base.  It is embellished with a soft blue floral pattern, and the intricate metal base is finished in an antique brass patina.  This is an heirloom piece to be passed down for generations.

Cruisin’ with Seattle Lighting

Recently Rick Seidman and Terry Wright, Quoizel sales representative for the Northwest territory, met with Dave McKee, COO of Seattle Lighting.  It was a beautiful warm evening where they cruised and dined on Seattle’s vibrant and historic harbor, with never-ending skyline views of the city, the Space Needle and Mt. Rainier.

Since 1917 Seattle Lighting  has been the Pacific Northwest’s leading source for exceptional quality of lighting fixtures and accessories.  Originally a lighting manufacturer, many of their designs can still be found in historic Seattle-area hotels, schools and churches. Although they built their last fixture in the 1930s, their former fabrication facility in Seattle now houses their corporate offices and downtown Seattle showroom. With multiple locations and an impressive selection of more than 25,000 products, there is something for everyone!

How Color Affects the Mood of Your Room

Do you realize that lighting can dramatically change the overall mood in a space?  Use decorative lighting to set the tone and atmosphere of each room in your home. Soft warm white is the most common for home lighting, but warm yellow, blue and pink tints are also being used as technology changes.

The warm white light or even pink tint can be soothing or romantic when illumination is low or invigorating when it is bright. Light with just a soft yellow glow is welcoming and friendly and gives off a sense of optimism, enlightenment and happiness while a tint of green, purple or blue gives an element of relaxation. Dimmer switches are great and provide different levels of light to enhance a mood.
