It looks like the Lazo’s will be eating their turkey in Germany!! Alejandra, daughter of Claudia & Kime (both employees of Quoizel) and her dance company will be competing in Germany during the Thanksgiving holiday.
Alejandra, who is 14, and six others of the South Carolina Movin’ On Dance Co. home of Berkeley County School of Performing Arts and West Ashley School of Performing Arts, who are leaving for Germany next week, are excited for this opportunity to compete internationally. In April, the team won the regional United States Dance-sports competition, qualifying for the USA Dance Team. The final selection of the USA Dance Team was made through a video review process by a panel of International Dance Organization judges in New York City.
The dance team, accompanied by their families, heads to Riesa, Germany, on Nov. 23 where they will have to move through four rounds of competition to bring home the gold. They are competing in the junior small group division with a musical theater-style performance set to the song “Everything Old is New Again.”
The girls are rehearsing five days a week, often for four and five hours at a time. Claudia and Kime couldn’t be more proud of their daughter! They are awed by her commitment and dedication at such a young age. Read more on their upcoming trip in The Post & Courier. (Alejandra can be seen in the middle on her hands.)
Good luck to Alejandra and her dance company! Enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime experience, and bring home the Gold!!
