A classic designer, Chantal, originally from the Boston area credits her mom, a realtor, for sparking her interest in the home industry. As a young girl, she recalls changing and moving her bedroom furniture to alter the look of her room on a regular basis…foreseeing a budding career ahead.
After moving to Minneapolis, Chantal embarked on her design career in 1999. Eventually starting her own business in 2003, she recalls her very first project was a neighbor’s log cabin. Talk about diving in head first! Although arduous, she found it extremely rewarding. “I work really hard to get to know my clients on a personal level, and I strive to make each design unique and specific to my client and their home—and the way they live in it.”
Her favorite part of the job is the beginning stages when she is connecting with the client and envisioning the project. She finds the construction restrictions as the most challenging.
Chantal, whose setting shots can be found in Quoizel’s 2015/16 catalog on pages 79, 261, 262 & 310, said she likes to use Quoizel’s quality products on her projects. “After ten years she wants the client to still be happy with the project so she chooses artistic elements that fit into a classic and timeless design such as Quoizel.”
Currently working on a $100,000 master bathroom overlooking Lake Minnetonka, Chantal suggests others who want to break into this industry to “get your feet wet”. “Do all the things you cannot learn in school such as work in a furniture showroom or a tile store, anywhere you can pick up decorating pointers.” Looking to help others, Chantal, mentors women who are looking for that second career. As a matter of fact, she hired an interior designer who she had mentored in the past.
