Lighting Fixtures for a Low Ceiling

Most new homes built today have high ceilings and, therefore, the space can accommodate a big dramatic fixture.  If your home does not have a high ceiling, Quoizel has many beautiful lighting fixtures that will give you that same dramatic effect without requiring a lot of height.

Looking for a dining room fixture, indulge in the Duchess Collection.  Classic European elegance for your home with a refined design fit for royalty. The hand-forged iron is twisted into graceful curves, while the trumpeted shades celebrate the beauty of light with their warm gradation of color.  This palladian bronze, (5) 100W fixture measures 22 1/2″ H, 24 1/2″ D was introduced in 2005 and is still a best-seller.

A chandelier should hang about 30″ from the surface of the table to insure no bumped heads and good illumination.  Total wattage of all bulbs should be 200 watts to 400 watts to provide sufficient light

Low ceilings can function well if the appropriate lighting fixture is used. Here are some tips and suggested fixtures:

  • Flush mount light fixtures save space and shed the light that makes an area seem larger. Long hallways with low ceilings can look great with a little repetition, and streamlined fixtures like Quoizel’s Adonis flush mount.  This clear, water glass surrounding another opal etched glass and a soft, clean relaxed design makes this distinctive double glass treatment a unique collection. A warm dark copper toned bronze finish with oval metal tubing ends with flowing scrolled arms.  The Adonis Collection is new for 2012, and its classic style and overall look will make your home feel warm and inviting.
  • Semi-flush mount fixtures like Quoizel’s Aliza work well on landings and in foyers with 8 or 9′ ceilings. Aliza is elegant and stylish making it a beautiful collection for today’s home. Featuring sleek oval tubing and a versatile palladian bronze finish, this collection, which is also new for 2012, compliments any décor with trumpeted fluted glass in a soft gradient amber mist.

Make sure the bottom of any ceiling fixtures are at least 6’8” above the floor unless you have it hanging over a table or island
